Position Purpose :Maintain and operate all machinery and equipment aboard all types of Pilot or Workboats and responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and engineering functions on Pilots and Workboats which includes watch keeping, repairs and maintenance.Position outputs:
•Check operations logbooks once resumed duty to determine repair needs;
•Check for soundings and levels in machinery space;
•Run plant to operating temperatures and check alarm systems;
•Proceed with normal shipping operations and maintain engine room watch keeping;
•Prepare maintenance in engine room as required;
•Carry out planned maintenance as per daily work schedule;
•Perform monthly engine services as prescribed by the maintenance chart;

•Pre-plan and prepare for major overhaul, dry-docking and lay-up LSA surveys and Hull surveys, etc.;
•Train subordinates in emergency procedures, fire and safety drills, and proper engineering procedures; and
•Ensure that adequate emergency engineering suppliers are available.
Qualifications & Experience:
•Matric/Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and Science;
•National Technical Certificate –N3 with Artisans trade test as millwright;
•Second Engineer Port Operations Certificate of Competency OR Motorman Higher Grade qualification;
